    Pell Center Lecture Series and Campus Tour

    This event will start with a student led campus tour followed with dinner in our dining hall and conclude with the Pell Center for International Relations and Public Policy Lecture. 

    Lecture: Gorbachev: His Life and Times -- McGinty Lecture 

    The Rise and Fall of Mikhail Gorbachev—and Their Lessons for the Putin Era

    Taubman won the 2004 Pulitzer Prize in Biography for Khrushchev: The Man and His Era (W.W. Norton, 2003). He will be speaking about his 2017 book, Gorbachev: His Life and Times (Simon & Schuster), which was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award for Biography, receiving many positive reviews; including from Strobe Talbott in the New York Review of Books, who called it “a masterpiece of narrative scholarship.”

    Speaker: Dr. William Taubman, Bertrand Snell Professor of Political Science Emeritus at Amherst College
